Because of Thanksgiving on Thursday, this is the shortest school week of the year. That, in and of itself, is something to be thankful for, but all of us have a lot more serious things we can be grateful for. Here’s my short list. My long list would take us into second block. I’m thankful for my friends and family, for the people that I love and that love me. I’m thankful for the good health that enables me to come to school every day. I’m thankful for my brain that lets me think and for my heart that lets me feel. I am thankful for my second chance in life that has given me the chance to teach and to make a difference in people’s lives. Whether you connect Thanksgiving to a higher power or not, the day is still a great opportunity to look at your life and realize how many positives there are. I’ve heard it said that a positive life begins with an attitude of gratitude. Every day you have the opportunity to choose your attitude and that’s probably the greatest gift of all.
